The Research Authority promotes, supports, and monitors the academic research, with special emphasis on expanding research funded by research foundations and public bodies.

The Authority is responsible for cultivating and strengthening contacts with funding bodies in Israel and around the world, gathering and organizing information on funding sources and distributing the information on our website and disseminating the information to our researchers. In addition, encouraging university researchers through incentives and the provision of research services, management and control of research contracts and grants, and support of the ongoing activities of the institutes, centers, and research centers in conjunction with unit heads and administrative officials.

The authority coordinates and manages the logistical set-up of the research needs; Financial assistance in publishing articles in academic journals; Assistance in the purchasing of infrastructural equipment for research laboratories, institutes and research centers; Assistance in extracting information from computerized databases; Grants from the Research Authority Fund; Consulting and assisting in preparing research proposals for external funding, financial management and control of research contracts and budgets, and projects in institutes, centers and research centers, providing tools and developing computerized systems for managing and monitoring research for the benefit of all our researchers.

The Vice President and Dean of Research, elected by the Senate as Dean of Research and by the Board of Directors as Vice President of Research, is involved in the process of establishing new institutes, centers, and new laboratories, is also an active board member of the centers and research committees of the faculties and schools.

The institutes and research centers at the university of Haifa are anchored in the Research Authority.
